Greek Music & Beyond
Greek Music Lessons, Books & Outreach
I’m Carmelo Siciliano — author, educator, and Greek music specialist based in Sicily. For over thirty years, I have studied, performed, and taught the musical traditions of Greece: rebetiko, folk song, modal theory, and traditional instruments.
My work rests on a single conviction: Greek music is not merely a genre — it is a living tradition, shaped by the history, geography, and identity of its people. Playing it well — or truly understanding it — requires knowing where it comes from. That is what I share.
Whether you are here to learn an instrument, explore my books, or organise an event dedicated to Greece and its music — you have come to the right place. I teach bouzouki, oud, laouto, baglamas, tzouras, guitar, mandolin, lavta, and tabouras online — live, one-to-one, from anywhere in the world.

30+ Years inside Greek music
My journey with Greek music began in 1993. Since then, I have studied with master musicians in Greece, spent a decade living between Sicily and Athens, performed in over fifteen countries, and published six books on rebetiko and the Greek musical tradition. Today I teach Greek instruments online, write on rebetiko and Greek traditional music, and give talks for universities and cultural institutions — always with the same goal: to share this music as it deserves to be shared.
